The Vacation Rental Bathroom

Here are our tips and tricks to make a beautiful, comfortable bathroom that your guests will love.

Essentials

These are things you absolutely need to have in your rental bathroom or else you will have very upset renters on your hands.

  • Toilet Paper: You can buy this with subscribe and save as mentioned in a previous article, but be sure to always have at least 2 rolls per bathroom for each new renter, with backups depending on how many nights they plan on staying.
  • Soap: As mentioned in our Environmentally Friendly article we use a local soap maker to create and brand fancy soaps for our bathrooms. However we also buy bar hand soap from subscribe and save.
  • Towels: Hand towels, bath towels, (beach towels will be in another article) and washcloths are all essential provisions for a rental. These are washable, bleach-able, and absorbent. Additionally, if you’re worried about towels getting ruined by guests, check out our article on how to let such things go
  • Wastebasket: Having a little wastebasket by the sink or toilet is always important for the surprising amount of trash that a guest can generate. They come in all sorts of fun colors like purple or azure.
  • Shower Curtain liner: This is different from a shower curtain, which is the pretty bit that you put outside the shower. This is the shower curtain liner which you put inside the shower and keeps the water from going everywhere. It needs to be waterproof, mildew-resistant, and ideally long enough to not have a gap, much like the one recommended here. You can also get one in a linen color.
  • Shower rings: Important for hanging up aforementioned shower curtain and liner.
  • Bathmat: Soft, squishy, washable. Check out our article on rugs for more information.
  • Hair Dryer: Very few people bring a hair dryer with them when they go on vacation, but they will appreciate you for having one in your bathroom.
